Our company was originally established as Mobara Works of Hitachi, Ltd. in Mobara City, Chiba Prefecture in 1943. We are located almost in the center of the Boso Peninsula, about 10km west of the southern end of Kujukuri Beach on the Pacific Ocean where the Black Current flows, and favored by clear blue skies and abundant greenery.
We began producing LCD modules in 1975, semiconductors in 1981 and TFT(thin film transistor)color LCD modules in 1987, and completed new production lines for TFT LCD modules in 2001. In this way, we have consistently turned out world-leading products with our extensive technology accumulated over the years and ceaseless research and development.
In 2002, all the departments of planning, development, design, manufacturing and sales concerned with the display business of Hitachi, Ltd. were spun off into a separate company called Hitachi Displays, Ltd. In addition, in 2006, the businesses dealing with large-size liquid crystal indicating elements for television were delegated to IPS Alpha Technology. As a specialized small-to-medium-size display manufacturer, Hitachi Displays, Ltd. aims to contribute globally by providing global leading displays.
